Leonardo DiCaprio is a smuggler originally from Rhodesia of conflict diamonds from Sierra Leone, and in the middle of the armed conflict in the country he teams up with idealistic reporter Jennifer Connelly and Local Djimon Houston whose family is caught up in the conflict. This is a good attempt by Hollywood to portray something of the complexity of the politics and economics, as well as the personal tragedy suffered by the people of this part of West Africa.
