Emily Mortimer is a woman who moves with her young deaf son to a Scottish town to escape from her violent husband. The boy writes to what he thinks is his father on a ship, but it is actually his mother who is replying. When a ship arrives in the port where they live with the same name she has to find a man to pretend to be the father. An excellent and poignant story of relationships, friendships and love wit a good performance in the lead role from Emily Mortimer.
