At the end of the 19 century John Hurst plays the physically deformed John Merrick who is rescued from a freak show, taken to live in a London hospital by Anthony Hopkins and becomes part of society. This is a moving film, not least due to the sympathetic performance by John Hurt and the atmospheric filming from David Lynch. This is an adaptatiof real life events.
