Leonardo DiCaprio seeks vengence on Daniel Day-Lewis for killing his father. Violent gang warfare between Irish immigrants and native New Yorkers, set against a background of the American civil war. This film is visually impressive though at times disturbing film as expected from Martin Scorsese, with good performances from both Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis but the characterisations are a bit flat.
