Nigel hawthorne is King George III whose illness gives him the syptoms of madness. The polititians and the court do what they can to cover up his illness and Ian Holme is the doctor brought in to try and treat him. This Alan Bennett script/play is a wonderful examination of the 18th century monachy with a superb performance from Nigel Hawthorne as the King and a strong supporting cast who get the best of the drama and comedy out of Bennett's script.
