Remake of the 1949 original, which in turn was a variation on King Kong. A young girl sees her mother killed by poachers trying to kill an ape. Years later, the ape has grown up into a giant ape and she takes him to California to try and escape the poachers. The plot is basic and predictable and this is not Charlize Theron's best acting, but the representation of the ape on screen in very good
