A card player (Clark Gable) runs a racket with two other men and has to hide from the police. He moves to a small town her he meets the local librarian (Carole Lombard). They fall in love and marry, but she does not realise what he does. Things come to a head when they move back to the city and he takes up his old ways again. The plot is not great, but there are some nice touches of comedy in the script that are well brought out by the performances from Clark Gable and Carole Lombard in the only film they starred in together. Carole Lombard is suitably sexy, in some impressive outfits is this pre-code film.
