This film is the life story of Ben Whishaw's character who from birth has an extraordinary sense of smell and has a troubled childhood. He eventually works for the perfume maker Dustin Hoffman, where he starts his quest for the perfect perfume. However this involves killing young girls to obtain their scents. He finally kills Rachel Hurd-Wood who is Alan Rickman's daughter and consequently brought to justice. This is a very different portrayal of a serial killer with a bizarre mystic overtone. The photography is good, but the acting and narrative are disappointing.
