Aaron Eckhart and Gwyneth Paltrow are a pair of academics who whilst researching the life of a Victorian poet (Jeremy Northam) unearth an unknown love affair (with Jennifer Ehle) and discover theri own love as their lives start to mirror that of the original pair (jeremy Northam and Jennifer Ehle). The period parts of this film are the best parts that are well filmed, acted and the characters appealing, but the modern day parts are less appealing with Gwyneth Paltrow and Aaron Eckhart lacking any spark that is there for Jeremy Northam and Jennifer Ehle
