Comment
A socialite who divorced her husband to take up with a musician, is now broke and he has taken to alcohol. She cheats at a poker game but is saved by the help from a mob boss at the same table who also has an altruistic streak as well as a murderous streak. The inevitable love triangle develops as she has to choose between the two men as the film builds to its tragic conclusion. This film is an early example of a talkie film, which is what makes it interesting, but it is also its weakness. It is produced like a silent film but with dialogue that is delivered in a completely flat way. Carole Lombard and Robert Armstrong went on to appear in better films and also they went on to show their acting skills as well. Recommmended if you are a fan of Carole Lombard or interested in the transition from silent to sound films.
