An 18th century princess (Mira Sorvino) goes in search of the the rightful heir to the throne (Jay Rodan). In doing so she dresses as a man and becomes his friend as as well as a lover to both Ben Kingsley and Fiona Shaw. This is between Shakespeare and Wilde in cross dressing and mistaken identity, but this film is lacking in the energy and humour that it needs and the talents of Ben Kingsley and Mira Sorvino are underused.
