In a future world that has flooded, a man with gills and webbed feet (Kevin Costner) helps a woman (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and her daughter in their search for dry land. They are aided by the map tattooed on the young girls back whilst being chased by assorted pirates led by Dennis Hopper.. Although this film is visually impressive in places, particularly the set piece action scenes, the plot is weak and full of holes and at over 2 hours long it would have benefitted from more ruthless editing, but the highlight of the film is the performance of Jeanne Tripplehorn.
