New York New York was a musical, but not popular at the box office. Then came The Deer Hunter which was a critical and commercial success and gained hima another Best Actor Oscar nomination. Raging Bull was a boxing biopic with Martin Scorsese that won him the Best Actor Oscar. Once Upon A Time In America was Sergio Leone's final film and a gangster epic. He followed this with Terry Gilliam's very different Brazil and then the historical drama The Mission. The Untouchables was another Brian De Palma film this time about Al Capone, though a different style of gangster film. As a change from drama, Midnight Run was an action comedy. Goodfellas was another mafia film from Martin Scorsese who also directed Cape Fear. He was the Creature in Mary Shelly's Frankenstein showing yet another side to his acting skills. Casino was another Martin Scorsese gangster film. With films like Analyse This and Meet The Parents he returned to comedy. Silver Linings Playbook earned him another Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.
