Danziger Studios


Harry and Edward Danziger came to Britain in 195s from America. They went on to make many television series and a variety of mainly B pictures, including the cult film Devil Girl From Mars. They were mainly business men and so they generally let the directors, actors and technitions to get on with their jobs. From 1956 they worke from theur own New Elstree studios. They were making second features which were turned out quickly and cheaply and many were of a lower quality. By the 1960's more money was being spent and the quality was improving. So Evil So Young was one of their first to get crtitical praise, along with The Tell Tale Heart. The Spiders Web by Agatha Christie was a critical and commercial success and was overseen by Christie herself. They were prouducing films and television series that wer being sol both in the UK and across Europe. The Pursuers in 1961 was a more controversial film of concentration camp survivors hunting Nazi's. They made a number of war films, inclduing Fate Takes A Hand. In a change of style, Satellite in the Sky was a wide screen colour science fiction film. Their final television series was Richard The Lion Heart. Earnest Morris directed many of the Danziger films and television series. Film production at the New Elstree studioes stopped in 1962 and were subsequently sold as industrial units and then demolised.
