Comment/Synopsis

A hard drinking Humphrey Bogart teams up with the prim Katherine Hepburn for a journey down an African river to escape the invading Germans. The experience changes both of them. This is one of the best films of its era and has strong performances from both Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. Hepburn plays the upper class woman against Bogarts's rugged working man. All this is set against John Huston's vivd backdrop of Africa in this period and filmed in all its harsh realities. What sets this apart is more mature people having romance and adventure.
