Anne Baxter plays the naive girl who comes into the life of aging star Bette Davies, however she is really a scheming aspiring actress. This is a powerful drama with good performances from the two leading ladies. It address the connection between life and art as well as the role of women as they age. This was a major film in Bette Davis's career.
