Jean-Marc Barr is a French soldier captured during the Napolionic wars and sent to a prison camp in Scotland run by Richard E grant. Both men take a fancy to Anna Friel who helps Jean-Marc Barr meet up with his estranged father and brother who live nearby. The plot is contrived, but Anna Friel gives a good performance as the young girl in love, ably supported by Miranda Richardson as her aunt. The film is based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson.
