Aurora starts to investigate the death of one of her students who is killed outside the diner where she works. This is one of the prequel series of films set whilst she was studying for her PhD. The plot is a typical variation of an amateur trying to help the police investigate a murder. Whilst Aurora's character is less pleasant than Candace Cameron Bure's older version, but this is offset by Crystal Baliant as her professor. THe best performance is from Marilu Henner as Aurora's mother.
