Comment/Synopsis

After a whirlwind romance a woman (Joan Crawford) marries a stranger (Cliff Robertson) and it quickly becomes clear that he has mental heath problems and becomes violent and abusive to her. His father and ex-wife (Vera Miles) appear and want him committed to an institution for their own reasons. Joan Crawford has to decide if in the end she will commit him to an asylum. This is a strange film as Joan Crawford comes to terms with how disturbed her new husband is and how to deal with it. Joan Crawford dominates every scene she is in and there is a good performance from Cliff Robertson as he becomes increasingly disturbed.
