A man (Gordon MacRae) recovering in hospital from his war injuries discovers that his friend (Edmond O'Brian) is being accused of the murder of a known gambler. He and the nurse (Virginia Mayo) who has been looking after him, go in search of him and find out who the real murderer is. This is a convoluted film noir style thriller although it lacks tension and the production is uninspiring, despite a good cast.
