Comment/Synopsis
The intertwined stories of a disparate group of people going to the seaside for a summer bank holiday. This is part a study of relationships, part comedy and part an examination of coping with death and relationship breakups. This was the first major film that Carol Reed directed and he successfully managed to blend all these elements together. The strongest performance is from Margaret Lockwood, but with good support from Rene Ray and the rest of the cast.
