Comment/Synopsis

A group of nuns lead by Deborah Kerr are sent to the Himalayas to set up a convent, however their religious life is disturbed by temptation put in their way. A wonderful atmospheric film around human nature as the sexual tension arises between a man and two nuns. Although the film is set in India, it was all filmed in England. The use colour against a largely white and grey background enhances the drama and the sexuality. There is a 10 minute sequence with no dialogue where the action plays out against specifically composed music to support the action.
