A novelist looking for inspiration pays the court fine for a young woman living on the street and takes her home to the upset of his upper class family and friends. This is an early John Ford sound film and has a mix of drama, social comment, comedy and romance. It does show its origins as a stage play and is hampered in places due to the limitations of early sound recording. Sally O'Neil's accent works in this film but did hamper her transition in sound films.
