Comment/Synopsis

A mild mannered scientist who is about to get married meets an excitable young lady who disrupts his plans to get a grant for his museum by getting him to help her with a pet leopard. This film is not about the plot but the interaction between the stuffy character of Cary Grant and the energetic and excitable Katharine Hepburn. This is an entertaining light romantic comedy that is made by anarchic performance from Katherine Hepburn in which she seems to hardly take a breath with the speed of her performance. Hepburn and Grant were very different people but in this film they palyed off each other wonderfully well. This is a good example the screwball comedies of the 1930's and 1940's. It also shows Katharine Hepburn's comic talents despite being better known for her dramatic roles. Although now considered a classic of screwball comedes, at thetime of its releas it lost RKO a siginifcant amount of money.
