Two sisters arrive in New York to appear on stage but their path is bumpy both acting and in relationships as they try and work out what and who is important in their lives. This is an entertaining early musical with some good set piece musical numbers and good performances from Bessie Love and Anita Page. This is definately a pre-code film with several scenes having both Bessie Love and Anita Page in varying stages of undress. This was the firat musical to win an Oscar and also the first talkie to win Best Picture.
