A woman who has a boyfriend leaves him and marries an old flame. However she soon discovers he is only after her money, but as she has none, he disappears off to France to continue his smuggling operation. After he is declared dead she marries her original lover, but things get complicated when her original husband turns up alive. This is a good British, film noir that is built on the performance of Jean Simmons.
