A junior office worker (Dick Powell) thinks he has won a lot of money in a slogan competition but it was a joke by his co-workers. He proposes to his girl friend (Ellen Drew), spends money and buys presents but there are unexpected consequences as money causes more probelms than it solves. Whilst it is a comedy, Preston Sturges does mange to include social comment and create some realistic characters.
