A classic film because of the novel techniques that were first used by Orson Wells in making this film. To appreciate this film today you must realise that the various techniques used in this film were here used for the first time. That these approaches are now seen as standard in cinema is why this film is important. A very significant and influential film. Gregg Toland as the cinematographer helped make visual effects of the film.
