A group of scientists discover an ancient creature in the remote Amazon. While they are arguing about whether to study it or kill it, the creature is enchanted by the beautiful female (Julie Adams) member of the team. Whilst the plot was not new (Beauty and the Beast, King Kong) it has inspired scenes in various more recent films. The monster is rubber and so not great but there are some good underwater scenes and Henri Mancini composed part of the score. It is basically a 1950's B-movie but it has become a cult classic.
