A young girl (Ann Carter) who has problems making friends with children of her own age befriends the ghost of her father's (Kent Smith) dead first wife (Simone Simon) and a reclusive aging actress (Julia Dean) who is estranged from her daughter (Elizabeth Russell). The film revolves around a young girl dealing with living in a fantasy world. There are solid performances from Kent Smith and Jane Randolph as her parents trying to come to terms with their child's behaviour. This was the first film directed by Robert Wise.
