Comment
In 1960's France, Edward Fox is employed to assassinate General de Gaulle, whilst the French police work to try to stop him. Much of the film revolves around Fox's meticulous planning of the attempted assassination and is a good interpretation of the original novel. Edward Fox was relatively unknown when Fred Zimmerman cast him in the lead role. THe director wanted to make a film where he could build the tension, even though the audience knew that final outcome before they entered the cinema.
