In the near future a plague has turned most of the world's population in vampires and as supplies of human blood dwindle the few remaining humans are hunted for their blood. Ethan Hawke works for a company developing a blood substitute and meets up with Willem Dafoe and Claudia Karvan who are helping humans survive and think they have a way of curing vampires and turning them back to humans. They have to battle against Sam Neill and the vampires who want to maintain the current position. This is a good variation on the vampire theme.
