A soldier in North Africa leads a band of rebels against against the French only he is in love with the daughter of the French commander. However when he is with the rebels he is The Red Shadow whilst with her he is a weak mild mannered man. The film is based on a stage operetta and whilst parts show that background, it is a well produced musical.
