A civil war veteran drills his family with military discipline. His son (Robert Harron) rebels and goes off to see his girl friend (Florence La Badie). However the native Indians attack the family and the son has to fight to get the cavalry to come to their rescue. This is an early D W Griffith western film, but much of the action is obscured by the amount of smoke both outside and with the fire inside the house, despite that it is still good for 1911.
