A disgraced Chinese mandarin's daughter falls in love with an American and becomes pregnant. In an attempt to get back in the Emperors good books his promises his daughter to the Emperor, but when the Emperor finds she has a baby by a foreigner, she is sentenced to death. Years later her daughter goes looking for her father outside of China. The sets are impressive but other than that, the film drags with little in the way of plot.
