Comment/Synopsis

A fashion photographer (Fred Astaire) does an impromptu shoot in a book store and turns the shop assistant (Audrey Hepburn) into a glamorous fashion model. There is reall no plot to the film and what there is suffers from a psudo intellectual slant. Audrey Hepburn is good in the lead and does sing her own songs and dances a couple of numbers. Fred Astaire was towards the end of his song and dance career and this is far from one of his better performances. The 30 year age gap between Hepburn and Astaire makes the romance less convincing. There are impressive costumes from Edith Head and Hubert de Givenchy. The songs are from George and Ira Gershwin but not memorable. The film was a success on its initial realease but did better at the box office when re-released following Audrey Hepburn's success in My Fair Lady.
