A tramp (Chlares Chaplin) goes to Alaska to try and make his fortune in the Alaskan gold rush. He competes with another man (Mack Swain) for the affections of a woman (Georgia Hale) and looks after a cabin of another miner. This is a good Charlie Chaplin comic slapstick film, with a good selection of visual jokes as well as a character that attracts sympathy. This is one of those films that made Chaplin one of the best silent comedians.
