A young boy (Owen Vaccaro) is sent to stay with his uncle (Jack Black) who is a warlock in a house with a clock hidden in the walls by a previous warlock The boy, his uncle and the witch (Cate Blanchett) next door must find the clock to save the world. This is an entertaining childrens's film with a typically larger than life performance from Jack Black and Cate Blanchett in a more dead-pan role. The effects are good, but do not over power the film.
