Two con artists (Eric von Stroheim and Peter Lorre) use a woman (Vera Zorina) posing as an aristocrat to con men around the high spots of Europe, but then she falls in love with one of their victims (Richard Greene), but she has problems escaping from her past. The plot is quite thin and whilst Vera Zorina was a well known ballet dancer, her acting was not up to the same level. However Erich von Stroheim and Peter Lorre are good as the two con men. What is strange is that it was made in 1940 and mainly set in France but with no mention of the war.
