A wealthy man (Cary Grant) discovers that wife (Kay Francis) does not love him and only married him for the money and status. At the same time he falls in love with a widowed artist (Carole Lombard) who has a young daughter. Although the wife agrees to a divorce her vindictive nature and greed come through. Although the story line is nothing special, it does flow well and is helped by good performances from Carole Lombard as his new love, Kay Francis as his vindictive wife and Helen Vinson as friend with her own devious agenda.
