A young boy has a strange accident in the loft of his house and ends up in a coma that the doctors cannot explain. His mother (Rose Byrne) starts seeing and hearing things and so they move house, however the stange things continue in the new house. The grandmother (Barbara Hershey) of the boy suggests that the couple engage the services of a sort of medium (Lin Shaye) who says that his spirit is trapped in a world of the spirits called the further. This is a very good psychological horror with some good suspense and shocks. Although directed by James Wan who produced and directed several of the Saw films this is very very different as it does not have their blood and violence. This is a good piece of horror built on on good production, direction and story.
