This is a very early telling of the life of Joan of Arc in 10 minutes by George Melies. This film is notable for being one of the earlier narrative films and has some very good hand tinted colouring. It is very theatrical in that it is a series of staged scenes, but together they do tell her story and the use of colour adds to the drama. This Melies second film that used changes of scenes and his first with a length of over 200 meters. It is also an early example of a mix of long shots and medium shots.
