A wealthy wife (Kay Francis) who is bored with life and marriage is romanced by a debonair jewel thief (William Powell) who does a daylight robbery of a jewellery shop in which she is a customer. This film epitomises pre-code Hollywood with adultery, drugs, crime, sex and the criminal being the hero. The film is all about the relationship between William Powell and Kay Francis that oozes sexuality as they banter their comic lines. This is Kay Francis for what she was known for, being elegant, sensual and wearing exotic dresses. William Powell is also good as the sauve and sophisticated thief.
