A man is found dead inside a locked room, the police initially think it is suicide however he was shot and stabbed. Sleuth Phiilo Vance investigatesand finds there are plenty of suspects and also more bodies. This is a fairly typical murder myster from the early 1930's. William Powell is suitable aloof as the sleuth, with good support from Mary Astor and also from Helen Vinson.
