A poor young boy from London's east end is told a unicorn can grant wishes, so he buys a goat with horn convinced it is a unicorn and goes around making wishes to help his local friends and family. The film is based on the novel by Wolf Mankowitz though the film looses much of the Jewish roots of the novel. This was Carol Reed's first film film in colour and ALexander Korda acted as Executive Producer on the film. The best acting performances are from Celia Johnson as the boy's sensible mother and David Kossoff as the tailor who tells the boy the story. Diana Dors character does not give her much opportunity to act and the way she is filmed seems more for her figure than her acting.
