A policeman (Dana Andrews) investigates the death of a woman (Gene Tierney) and builds up a picture of her by interviewing the witnessess. He starts to be attracted to her and then things take a strange turn when he discovers that she is not dead and the body is another woman. This is a well constructed murder mystery with good performances from Dana Andrews as the policeman and Gene Tierney as the victim. This is one of the classic Film Noir films. It was also the film that brought Vincent Price to being a star performer.
