An aging actor (Adolphe Menjou) is visited by his long lost daughter (Andrea Leeds) who is an aspiring actress. He tries to help her career without disclosing that she is his daughter. The basic plot is good and there is a strong performance from Andrea Leeds in the lead role with good support from Adolphe Menjou and a solid supporting cast. The weakness of the film is the overlong scenes with Edgar Bergen and his ventriloquist dummy that add nothing to the plot.
