A group of pirates take over a remote lighthouse in order to wreck and plunder passing ships. Kirk Douglas runs the lighthouse and Yul Brynner is the captain of the pirates and they face each other off in a plot that is implausible in places. This is by no means the best film from either Kirk Douglas or Yul Brynner. Smantha Eggar brings some elegance to a film dominated by grubby pirates.
