When a wealthy businessman disappears the family (Jan Wiley) employ a wise carcking private detective (James Dunn) to find him. He mysteriously reappears apparently with brain damage but tries to kill people. The detective is helped by the perky family secretary (Joan Woodbury). Whilst James Dunn is the central character in the film and has the comic lines, he is not convincing in the lead role. It is Joan Woodbury who gives the best acting performance, despite her character being hampered as the typical 1940's female side kick.
