A misfit group of strangers set out on an old tramp steamer for South America. however they are faced with a series challenges, including a cargo of unstable explosives, a hole in the boat, killer seaweed, giant monsters and Spanish Conquistadors. This is not one of the better Hammer films and the monsters and effects are poor, although suitably grotesque. The photography does give an eerie feel to the film. The best of the acting is from Suzanna Leigh. The film is based on the novel Uncharted Seas by Dennis Wheatley.
